EUROPE DENTAL EDUCATION:

During the last thirty years different activities in harmonization of European higher education have lead dental education also to face continuous changes. The dental directive defining an independent dental degree based on five year curriculum was issued in 1978. This Directive includes the educational requirements concerning the recognition of Diplomas, Certificates and other qualifications of dental practitioner .

US DENTAL EDUCATION:

There are limited opportunities for dental education in the United States with only 4,440 graduating in 2003, down from 5,750 in 1982.  The average dental student graduates with over $200,000 in debt. In the United States, dentists earn either a D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) or D.M.D.(Doctor of Dental Medicine) degree. There are 56 accredited dental schools in the United States requiring 4 years of post-graduate study .

MIDDLE EAST DENTAL EDUCATION:

Dentists require six years of post-secondary education. The whole program is one single degree of D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery). After this, those wishing to specialize in a particular field may pursue higher education. Upon graduation, a dentist may need to fulfill two years of military service  or governmental service  in order to collect enough scores to start in private.

TRACKS

1. ADVANCEMENTS IN DENTISTRY:

Digital dentistry may be defined in a broad scope as any dental technology or device that incorporates digital or computer-controlled components in contrast to that of mechanical or electrical alone. This broad definition can range from the most commonly thought area of digital dentistry — CAD/CAM (computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing) — to those that may not even be recognized, such as computer-controlled delivery of nitrous oxide.

If most of the tooth remains, veneers can improve the look of the tooth without cutting it down enough to place a crown. They are similar to artificial fingernails. A dental inlay or on lay is bigger than a filling and smaller than a crown. It is bonded or cemented into place. The purpose is to change the length, shape or surface contours of a tooth. This is a relatively quick and painless procedure. It is also called tooth reshaping or odontoplasty. Tooth whitening lightens teeth and helps to remove stains and discoloration.

Incomes and dental-health awareness both increasing

According to the report, rising disposable incomes of patients coupled with growing dental care awareness will drive the dental equipment market in the developing Asian countries.

In the developed regions of North America and Western Europe, market growth will be driven mainly by the aging population possessing a desire to retain natural tooth structure.

In 2011, North America was the leader in terms of market share and is expected to maintain its leadership position in 2018. This can be attributed to the rapid adoption of advanced technologies such as CAD/CAM, along with relatively higher dental-health awareness across the population.

Fastest growing dental-equipment market segment: lasers

The rapid adoption of dental lasers, which are capable of making dental procedures practically painless, thereby increasing patient compliance, is helping to make dental lasers the fastest growing segment of the overall dental equipment global market.

Danaher Corp. led the market in terms of market share in 2011 because of its extensive product portfolio and its wide presence in the developed North American and European regions. Some other key players in this market include Sirona Dental Systems, A-dec Inc., CareStream Health, GC Corp., Planmeca Oy and Biolase Inc.

Global Dental Implants Market is expected to reach USD 4,497.1 million by 2018 supported by a CAGR of 6.1% during the forecast period of 2017 to 2022. Geographically, the global dental implant market is segmented into five major regions, namely North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Middle East & Africa.

The global dental sector is easily among the healthcare areas with the best prospects as dental care is becoming increasingly accessible and affordable in countries all over the world. The global market for dental supplies is expected to reach a value of US$19.4 billion by the year 2017.

An aging edentulous population, rising awareness about oral care, increasing demand for preventive and cosmetic dental procedures, and technological advancements are all driving growth of the global dental implants market. Rising incidence of tooth loss due to periodontal conditions such as   dental caries, relatively high proportion of people remaining untreated, willingness of patients to make out-of-pocket expenses for dental treatments, and availability of high-quality dental infrastructure and products further propelling the growth of the global dental market.
