Dental Anaesthesiology

A dentist anesthesiologist is a dentist who has effectively completed an accredited postdoctoral anesthesiology residency program of three or more years duration, in accord with Commission on Dental Accreditation’s Standards for Dental Anesthesiology Residency Programs, and/or meets the suitability requirements for examination by the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology .Dentist anesthesiologists typically offer anesthesia only for dental procedures and oral and maxillofacial surgery. This may be in a suitably designed dental office, an ambulatory surgical center, or in the hospital. Dentist anesthesiologists have an expertise in dental measures, outpatient anesthesia, anesthesia outside of the operating room, and treating children and patients with special healthcare needs.
